Company history
2010 – The Year of Opportunities
Due to our professional qualifications and high performance, our company had a good start in 2010, as well, with undiminished energy and new business prospects.
In the first quarter, we finished four successful projects, i.e. Innovation and Service House in Gödöllő Industrial Park, a warehouse building of Móra Ferenc Museum, Szeged, Ü 48 Corner Center and Víziváros office buildings were inaugurated in that period. Meanwhile, craning SkyCourt’s roof structure into position also started at Ferihegy Airport. In June 2010, the Mercedes varnish plant reached its highest elevation point, and we were ordered to construct two more factory buildings for Mercedes. It was the same year when we were awarded contracts for the construction of Glencore’s multi-seed crush plant, the general construction of LINEA Hall in Győr and that of Integrated Vocational Training Centre of South-Buda Region in Budapest.
We also had a successful year abroad. Our Group’s Ukrainian subsidiary company made a break into a completely new segment on the Ukrainian market – our new partner, ROSHEN, awarded KÉSZ Ukraine a contract for the building and general construction of a bovine farm.
Our successful projects brought KÉSZ Group into the focus of interest those weeks. Besides our participation in several professional forums, KÉSZ’ activities and results were dealt with in leading special periodicals.
2009 – We Took Our Flight with Ferihegy Airport
In spite of the world crisis, 2009 brought great results for our company in the form of professional recognition, newly won projects and roof raising ceremonies that we’re really proud of. In that year, KÉSZ initiated industry-wide cooperation of historic importance as a crisis management measure in construction industry.
In the first quarter, the work was commenced at Ferihegy Airport, and the North-Western apron was brought to completion as early as in May. In June, we laid the foundation stones of the Airport’s new passenger building, SkyCourt, and the museum warehouse building in Szeged.
With the Mercedes factory in Kecskemét, KÉSZ won another strategic construction project right after the Airport. The work awarded to us included construction of the first factory hall, the varnish plant and the bodywork warehouse.
KÉSZ ended the year 2009, too, with another successful general construction project award. KÉSZ Építő Zrt. was named as the winning bidder at the public procurement procedure “Construction of New Building for Engineering Faculty” for the University of Szeged.
Recognitions
The professional jury of MAGÉSZ rewarded KÉSZ Group’s participation in the implementation of technological reconstruction of Dunaújváros roll mill with “Steel Structure of the Year 2009 Award”.
Richter Gedeon Nyrt. Swimming Pool, Budapest with KÉSZ Ipari Gyártó Kft’s active contribution won a Construction Industry Award.
Cluster
In order to promote their market competitiveness, 30 southern-Hungarian construction undertakings founded the Hungarian Innovative Construction Industry Open Cluster, at KÉSZ Group’s initiative. The main operating principles of the cluster made up of certified suppliers and partners are interest and risk pooling, safety, responsibility and a vision to overcome the crisis.
2008 – Development and renewal
KÉSZ Ltd. was reorganized, and stands as two independent strategic entities. Our construction company continues its activities under the name of KÉSZ Building and Construction Inc., the chief executive being Mr. László Szalados. We are laying strong emphasis on our manufacturing capacity, and plan further developments and firm acquisitions in the future, both in Hungary and abroad. For the sake of carrying out the new strategy effectively, it is necessary to separate and reorganize production into a self-sufficient company. The new company, called KÉSZ Industrial Manufacture Ltd. is directed by Mr. Róbert Vőneki.
The market conditions and the continuous development of our company made us possible to establish our third international subsidiary company. In the present case the target was Bulgaria: the first office of KEC Bulgaria opened in Sofia.
2007 – Restructuring the group
The year 2007 was of outstanding significance for our group in several aspects. On one hand, because of the celebration since it was exactly 25 years ago in 1982 when Komplex Private Business Partnership was established in Kiskunhalas, predecessor of our company in title. The jubilee was celebrated together with our partners with a memorable gala in Budapest, in the Palace of Arts.
On the other hand, besides the celebration the restructuring of our group is also of great importance: from 01 January the parent company KÉSZ Ltd. and its subsidiaries have been operating in a holding structure.
The restructuring process was basically aiming at the profile clarification, separation of processes and transparency of the propriety relations of the subsidiaries. With a primary office in Kecskemét, KÉSZ Holding Vállalkozásfejlesztő és Vagyonkezelő Zártkörű Részvénytársaság (Enterprise Development and Property Management Ltd.) was established. It became the owner of KÉSZ Holding Ltd. and KÉSZ Ltd. and the central member of KÉSZ Group, which is responsible for the group’s future, for its strategy and for the management of different investments. He subsidiaries strictly linked to construction industry remained under the management of KÉSZ Ltd., thus they form a construction industrial sub-holding within the holding structure. For the further operation of facility management activities done so far by KÉSZ Ltd. an separate subsidiary was established named KÉSZ-FM Ingatlanfejlesztő és Üzemeltető Ltd. (Property Development and Management Ltd.). KÉSZ Ltd. – keeping its main profile – is intended to provide complex services covering the whole construction industrial segment in the future.
Parallel with the internal structural reorganisation, our group reformed in its appearance: in the jubilee year KÉSZ got a new image. The new logo of the company represents the changes; the growth of KÉSZ, its shift into new dimensions, but at the same time preserves its former, popular logo colours and forms – thus linking the past 25 years with present and future.
2006 - Constructing a prison and a swimming pool
We launched the construction of the Hungarian Prison Service Institute in Tiszalök; we plan to build the prison suitable for the reception of 700 prisoners in PPP. Our building activities in Margit-sziget were in the focus of public attention where our company constructed Széchy Tamás Sports Swimming Pool for the European Championship of 2006. Our works were set back by extraordinary weather conditions and flood prevention; even these could not stop us finishing the facility by the deadline. We built an acid production plant in Várpalota-Pétfürdő, in Visonta we participated in the development of the Mátrai Erőmű (power plant). We established KÉSZ Holding Vállalkozásfejlesztő és Vagyonkezelő Zrt. (Enterprise Development and Property Management Ltd.), which is the flag ship of our group as a property management unit and at the same time the parent company of KÉSZ Ltd. Mihály Varga was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the new company, and Tamás Radnai as the Managing Director of KÉSZ Ltd.
2005 – Launch of PPP-works
Our company won the Quality Certificate of the South Plain Region. We established KÉSZ UA Kiev subsidiary in the Ukrainian capital (called KÉSZ UA from 2007), which primarily serves the gaining of a relevant market share of the company in the capital and Eastern Ukrainian Region. Our new subsidiary rapidly developed, and soon won rather significant projects in the construction market. The Jabil electronic equipment repairing service center was inaugurated in Szombathely, we finished the second phase of Foxconn plant, completed the Lombard office building in Szeged. We joined PPP projects: won the tender published on the planning, construction and management of the educational center and student hostel of BMF, another on the contracting works of the new resource center of the Berzsenyi Dániel College in Szombathely.
2004 – outstanding achievement
We have strengthened our international role with individual projects in Slovakia, Austria, Serbia, Romania, Moldavia and Ukraine and also delivered substantial export. KÉSZ Romania opened its new office in Székelyudvarhely and won an EU Phare tender for modernizing 17 schools. KÉSZ excelled with the projects of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, TESCO logistics center, Foxconn plant and TVK Olefin2 processing plant in Hungary. Szeged won the Europa Nostra Prize. Our company participated in the city's revitalization project as a designer and general executor.
KÉSZ delivered outstanding achievement with the turnover of 38 billion HUF in 2004.
2003 – KÉSZ now also in Central Europe!
Our subsidiaries are established in Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro. We changed our company name due to our expansion strategy abroad and our extending scope of activities. As of now, KÉSZ Kft's full name is: KÉSZ Central European Construction and Installation Ltd. Jabil commissioned our company to extend their plant in Tiszaújváros, we also extended the Campona shopping and amusement centre in Budafok with a TESCO hypermarket and a car park while we delivered tunnel drilling assemblies to Switzerland and Turkey.
2002 – Establishing KÉSZ Ukraine
We continued our expansion abroad by establishing the KÉSZ Ukraine construction enterprise in Zaporozhye, Ukraine. Later on, we moved our site to Kalush. We purchased a 24,000 square metre KALUS HORS reinforced concrete prefabricating plant. In order to operate this factory, we joined forces with two other Hungarian companies (ASA Kft., Ferrobeton Zrt.) to establish 3 Beton Kft and, still in the year of the respective purchase, the factory was renovated and modernised. The renovation of the UTE Stadium extended the scope of our sports facilities, in which the steel construction work performed on it was awarded a European Steel Construction Prize.
